Of Champagne And Cheer

Her ecstacy was hard to explain
It sort of was the 'upper' of rum and coke
As opposed to the 'downer' of straight-laced wine
Of puppies
And 'An affair to remember' and 'Casablanca'
Even her nose glowed, testament
To being in love
She missed the twinkle in her toes
But now the feeling was back
Goosebumps and shivers down her spine
Every kiss exciting as her first
Like jazz in the background
And a long drawn out cigarette
Love-making that took her to galaxies
Far and beyond and back
Intergalactic her love she never thought
But it felt damn good
And now she finally got the part of the Bubbly
And the Cheer that came along
All in a long-stemmed glass.
