Etc.

If I haven’t already said this before, let me state it again, I can’t hold a tune to save my life. No high note, no low note can make up for my lack of any note! And that is the truth. So anyway, skill notwithstanding, I still do love to sing. Especially after a couple of drinks down. I am just waiting to be asked. And I do. And then I sing, after being coy for like two seconds. And the next day of course, am mortified and solemnly swear to never again.

Best laid plans..

Which reminds me of course of the time when I used to work in the radio. I had this show where we’d take requests, but after a while, the “quality” of requests we’d get would just be downright dismaying. Seriously, there’s just that many times that you can play Bolton, Adams or Boys!! So we’d start making up our own requests! I had at least one every show under the guise of an email from ‘this’ person requesting ‘this’ song and play the whatever damn I wanted to then! It was all done with an aim to better educate! Things I got away with…

And then there have been some I wish I got away with, but I didn’t. And how!!

Years ago, I think it was the twelfth grade when my friend and I got offered to ‘star’ in a music video. A Tamil music video at that! I knew my parents would never agree but I really wanted to do it, just for kicks! To say I did do something like that once, to strike it off the list! The wardrobe changes, the guy who comes in and spritzes water on your face before shoots, just plain brilliant!

So I decided to go ahead and do it, without telling them. And I figured since I don’t come from a Tamil family, why on earth will they be watching a Tamil channel where they would suddenly see their daughter flash by! So, I could get away with it! Right? The arrogance of youth!

But as my luck would have it, I did get found out!! And man, the storm I found myself in!

Would I do it again? Knowing me, probably yes! Just to see every cliché coming true was priceless!! But I’d probably go about it in a better way for sure!

(Walking into Landmark and seeing that cd on sale was just too much fun to pass up! But it’s a still a sore topic which we don’t talk about, at my house.)

Such craziness!

Speaking of crazy…

“You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon.' Need I say more?
